Gugulethu Mabuza-Hocquet
Gugulethu holds a PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. She is currently employed at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) as the research group leader (RGL) of the surveillance and countermeasure systems (SCMS) research group, under the Optronics sensor systems (OSS) impact area which falls under the Defence and Security cluster. Gugulethu holds an M-Tech degree in Telecommunications (cum Laude) and MSc degree in Electronic Systems. She is a supervisor and a mentor for members of her research group and students enrolled for Master’s and PhD degrees. Her academic work in the field of science and technology won her the TATA South African Women in Science Award in 2011, the first runner-up of the science communication competition FameLab South Africa in 2014 and a brand ambassador of the “Ideas that work” campaign for the CSIR.
